Clarke says 2015 Cricket WC will decide champions of 50-over game
Australia cricket team captain Michael Clarke has said that next year's Cricket World Cup will decide the kings of the 50-over game no matter what happens in the race to top the ICC world rankings between now and then.
Clarke believes that the definitive ruling on the best one-day side will not come until Australia and New Zealand host the World Cup from February 14-March 29 next year.
Clarke said that whoever wins the tournament will be seen as the number one one-day team in the world, Sport24 reported.
The skipper added that that is the way he has always looked at one-day rankings. Clarke said that one loves being number one in any form of the game but, one gets a great indicator who is the number one team in the world in six months time playing in a World Cup.
Clarke said that the World Cup is what dictates it.
Australia, who won the World Cup in 1987, 1999, 2003 and 2007, recently lost their brief grip on the number one test ranking to South Africa, the report added.
