HWL: Australia thrash India 7-2 in quarters
Australia stormed into the semi-finals of the Hockey World League (HWL) Finals by beating India in the quarter-finals clash here on Wednesday.
Australia beat India 7-2.
India, suffered another defeat in the tournament and this time it threw the hosts out of it.
At one point, India were were by 2-0 goals but Australia bounced back and scored 7 goals to cruise into the last four stage.
Birender Lakra and Yuvraj Walmiki gave India 2-0 lead early into the game.
Nicholas Budgeon, Jason Wilson, Glenn Turner, Simon Orchard, Russell Ford and Jacob Whetton netted seven for Australa to throw them out of the tournament.
The home team did not win a single match in the tournament.
They will next face Germany in the 5th-8th classification match.
England beat Belgium 1-0 and Netherlands defeated Germany 2-1 in the other quarter-finals clashes.
In a sudden death clash, New Zealand beat Argentina 4-3 in quarter-finals.
England, Netherlands, New Zealand and Australia qualified for the semi-finals.
