The internal situation in Pakistan was one of the factors for Islamabad resorting to unprovoked firing at the Indian positions on the international border in Jammu and Kashmir late Wednesday even after the talks between the two sides, according to Lt General Raj Kadyan (retired).

Lt General Kadyan (retd) said today that Pakistani army is keen to run the country from behind.

"The ceasefire violations along the Line of Control and now also along the International Border has been carrying on intermittently for the last so many years. Sometimes the intensity goes down, sometimes it is more intensified. Ceasefire violations by themselves are not the cause of the problem, they are a result of the problem," he said.

A fresh round of ceasefire violations by Pakistan took place in Jammu and Kashmir's Akhnoor sector late Wednesday following which the Border Security Force (BSF) troops also retaliated.

The ceasefire violations took place just hours after the BSF and Pakistan Rangers held a flag meeting to defuse tensions between the two sides.
