Martyred soldier's last rites performed with full honours
The last rites of martyred soldier Rahul Kumar of 23 Grenadiers Battalion was performed today in his native village of Bulandhshahr in Uttar Pradesh. His mortal remains were brought back to Bulandhshahr this morning.
Rahul Kumar sustained critical bullet injuries after a militant group attacked a patrol party along the Line of Control (LoC) in Keran sector of Jammu and Kashmir's Kupwara district on Saturday night. He succumbed to his injuries the next morning.
His father Jaikaran Singh told ANI, "I raised my son and made him work in the Army and for the nation. He martyred himself for the nation but our government doesn't have a good policy because they are neither given orders nor good weapons."
"As for me, I have another son and I am ready to martyr him and martyr myself as well. I will always be ready to pay my services," the bereaved father added.
Kumar's family members and scores of local residents had lined up in the village to pay their respects to the martyr.
