The 66th Primetime Emmy Awards ceremony kicked off at 5 p.m. Monday in downtown Los Angeles.

Hosted by Seth Meyers, the three-hour show will give 26 golden statuettes as top awards for TV series to actors, actresses, producers and other excellent people who worked for the series, Xinhua reports.

This year, the awards will focus heavily on comedy, analysts said.

Billy Crystal, a legendary actor, will pay tribute to his longtime friend Robin Williams who died Aug 11, during the In Memoriam segment of the show.

The ceremony is on-going in Nokia Theatre LA LIVE in downtown Los Angeles.

Broadcast in more than 150 countries around the globe, the show is expected to attract some 600,000,000 audiences.
