Army, BSF respond effectively to ceasefire violations by Pak: Jaitley
Admitting that ceasefire violations by Pakistan have increased of late, Defence Minister Arun Jaitley on Saturday said the Border Security Force (BSF) and the Indian Army respond effectively to each such violation.
"It's a fact that of late ceasefire violations by Pakistan have increased but let everybody be assured that both our Army and BSF are fully vigilant, they effectively respond to each violation," Jaitley said.
Jaitley further said he has full faith that the security forces act in India's best interest.
"I have full faith and the country must have full faith that they are effectively protecting both our territory and our national interest," he added.
A major ceasefire violation by Pakistani troops in R.S Pura Sector of Jammu earlier in the day led to the death of two civilians and injured a BSF) jawan.
Meanwhile, reacting to the latest ceasefire violation by Pakistan, Communist Party of India (CPI) leader Atul Anjan said, "Repeated ceasefire violations by the Pakistan Army in Jammu and Kashmir region suggest that it is eager to fight a war."
"Two of our citizens have died and several are injured, people are fleeing from their homes in border villages, the time has come for the Prime Minister to call an all parties meeting and put forth the plan of action," he added.
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi on his part described the ceasefire violations as extremely unfortunate.
"Pakistan is not able to understand that whatever they are doing, they will have to pay the price for that. On one side, they talk about peace and they are doing this on the other hand," Naqvi added.
