Swedish ice hockey goaltender Henrik Lundqvist, who plays for the New York Rangers of the National Hockey League, made an electric return to town following a summer break in his homeland and beat world number one Novak Djokovic.

Lundqvist teamed up with tennis great John McEnroe against American actor Edward Norton and Djokovic at the Johnny Mac Tennis Project Benefit at Sportime Stadium on Randalls Island Thursday, New York Post reported.

Lundqvist's lifelong love of tennis paid off as he and McEnroe won on the court, while being cheered by American actor and comedian Danny DeVito, American politician David Dinkins and former world number one tennis player Boris Becker, the report added.
