The Left Front Thursday accused the Trinamool Congress of pursuing "politics of vengeance" after a West Bengal ruling party legislator called for burning "real human effigies".

Addressing a meet organised by the Trinamool-affiliated Progressive Doctors' Association, its president and legislator Nirmal Majhi Wednesday wondered if people would burn "real human effigies" of doctors, who earlier burnt dummies of the chief minister after three of their colleagues were suspended.

Condemning Manjhi's comments, Left Front chairman Biman Bose said the hate speeches by several Trinamool leaders have lead to attacks on opposition activists and supporters, creating a law and order situation.

"Trinamool leaders' inciting speeches have created a law and order situation. First it was MLA Manirul Islam who publicly described his heroics of trampling three people to death, then came Anubrata Mondal who asked people to bomb the police," Bose told the media here.

"While their MP Tapas Paul went unpunished despite exhorting people to slit the throats of CPI-M workers and rape their women, we are now seeing how their MLA also a doctor yesterday (Wednesday) asked people to burn humans instead of effigies," said Bose.

Bose said such speeches were unheard from leaders of a civilised country.

"The Trinamool came to power riding on its slogan of 'change and not revenge', but they are doing exactly the opposite. We strongly condemn these comments and politics of vengeance which the Trinamool is pursuing," added Bose.
