Prime Minister Narendra Modi today laid the foundation stone of a Special Economic Zone (SEZ) at the Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust in Navi Mumbai, and stressed on the need to create a place for India in the world market.

"Yesterday, in my speech, I had said, 'Come Make in India', but I think some people could not understand what I meant or said. They thought I said 'come make India'. We need to create a place for India in the world market," said Modi.

"We need to give importance to the manufacturing sector, so that we can generate maximum employment. This is the age of world trade and commerce, and in this age, the seas have become very important," he said.

"We want to encourage shipbuilding, as it is a huge sector, and we have the required manpower and steel. India's strongest power is that 65 percent of the population is less than 35-years-old. If they work together, nobody will be able to stop us," he added.

He also stressed on the need to create employment opportunities for the youth by focusing on the manufacturing sector.

"Farmers should get the price of their hard work. Things manufactured by us should reach the world market. People from rural areas will get more employment opportunities if we focus on the manufacturing sector," Modi said.

Special Economic Zone (SEZ) is a modern economic zone where business and trade laws differ from the rest of the country.

To encourage businesses to be set up in the zone, liberal policies are introduced.
