Robin Williams 'hanged himself to death'
Robin Williams had hanged himself to death at his San Francisco Bay Area home, it has been revealed by the Sheriff's office.
Marin County Sheriff's Lieutenant said that the 63-year-old actor's personal assistant found his dead body in a bedroom at his Tiburon, California home, after Williams failed to respond to the knocks on the door, the Daily Telegraph reported.
According to a preliminary investigation, the cause of was suicide due to asphyxia, but the toxicology tests will be performed and the investigation is ongoing.
The coroner said that the stand-up comedian's wife, Susan Schneider, last saw the 'Mork and Mindy' star alive on Sunday and she thought her husband was still asleep when she left for some errands the next day.
The 'Jumanji' star, who had been suffering from periodic bouts of substance abuse and depression for years, had attempted suicide for the second time in the hours before his death.
According to some reports, Williams, who started looking "drawn and thin" days before his death, was facing some financial problems.
