McIlroy credits breakup with Wozniacki for spectacular golfing success
Rory McIlroy has credited all his success to being single and has said that his breakup with tennis star Caroline Wozniacki worked wonders for his career.
The Irish golfer said that he thinks what happened has been for the better in terms of his golf, as he has put a bit more time into it and it has refocused him as he has nothing else to do, Stuff.co.nz reported
McIlroy won the PGA Championship in Kentucky, taking his career tally to four major titles including this year's British Open and is the current world No 1 after beating Adam Scott.
He also said that he goes to the golf course and the gym, which is how his life is at the minute and he has worked pretty hard before but the past couple of months he really just buried myself in his game, which worked pretty well, so he's going to keep doing it.
McIlroy and Wozniacki began dating in 2011, and the 25-year-old golfer proposed to her on New Years Eve in Sydney, before ending the engagement in May 2014, after the couple had sent out invitations to their planned November wedding.
