Manish Tewari calls govt's stand on Pakistan contradictory
Calling the government's stand on Pakistan contradictory, Congress leader Manish Tewari today questioned the NDA's silence over the endless number of ceasefire violations by the country.
"There have been over 20 ceasefire violations by Pakistan in the past two months. Going to Kargil and delivering speeches is not going to change anything. Why was the government silent on these issues?" asked Tewari.
"The contradictory nature of the government is increasing day by day. In the past ten years, whenever the UPA government tried to initiate talks with Pakistan, the BJP dismissed the efforts, calling it 'biryani diplomacy' and on the other hand they invited Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif before even forming the government," he added.
The Prime Minister is currently visiting Leh and Kargil in Jammu and Kashmir.
Earlier in the day, Modi inaugurated the Chutak hydro electric project and the Leh-Kargil-Srinagar power transmission line and an NHPC (National Hydroelectric Power Corporation) project in Kargil and Ladakh respectively.
