Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Chutak hydro electric project in Kargil today.

Addressing the people of Kargil, Modi said, "It is my privilege that I am able to come here and meet all of you. Power is not only essential for the use of televisions and mobile phones, but also to run and establish industries in Kashmir and make them more efficient."

Earlier today, Modi inaugurated the Leh-Kargil-Srinagar power transmission line and an NHPC (National Hydroelectric Power Corporation) project on his second visit to Jammu and Kashmir since coming into power.

The Prime Minister also stressed on the need for a saffron revolution as well as developing tourism in the state.
