Four injured in Pakistan firing in Jammu
Two troopers and two women were injured Monday as Pakistan Rangers opened fire at Indian positions on the international border in Jammu district, an official said.
Police sources told IANS here that two Border Security Force (BSF) troopers - Head Constable Sunil Kumar and Constable Bishnoi - were injured when the Pakistani army resorted to unprovoked firing at four places in the R.S. Pura area.
"Pakistan Rangers fired at the Johra Post, Nowa Pind, Jogna Chak and Tent Post," a police officer said.
"The firing began at around 4.15 a.m. local time and it is still on," the officer said.
"BSF retaliated to the Pakistan firing effectively," the officer added.
Two women - Rani Devi and Ritu Kumar - both residents of Suhag village were also injured, the officer said.
The Pakistan Army had violated ceasefire on the Line of Control (LoC) in Mendhar area of Poonch district Sunday.
The LoC in Jammu and Kashmir is guarded by the army while the BSF guards the international border here.
