"I would like to involve all sections of society in achieving the UN Millennium Development Goals."
The DMA was founded in 1914 by a group of doctors - Mukhtar Ahmed Ansari, Abdul Rehman, S.P. Shroff, H.L. Keal, J.K. Sain, Bhairon Dayal and I.T. Mittra.
Harsh Vardhan said the medical community of India was presently under scrutiny for instances of unethical practices on the part of some doctors.
"Though the vast majority of doctors are faultlessly devoted to duty, some are giving the profession a bad name," he said.
