Late strike earns Coritiba draw with Fluminense

Rio de Janeiro, Aug 10 : Veteran midfielder Germano scored a stunning late goal to earn Coritiba a 1-1 draw with Fluminense in Brazil's Serie A championship.

The 33-year-old took advantage of Wagner's poor clearance, taking one touch to flick the ball up before smashing a 25-yard volley into the top corner, reports Xinhua.

Elivelton had given the hosts the lead by heading in after a Rafael Sobis cross.

The result at the Maracana stadium left Coritiba 18th in the standings with 12 points while Fluminense remained second on 26 points.

In other matches, Bahia defeated Goias 1-0 and Criciuma drew 0-0 with championship leaders Cruzeiro.
