Manchester United's former player and first team coach Phil Neville has branded the club as an 'absolute disaster' last season while accepting his role in the debacle, but has believes that the club will bounce back this year.

Neville accepted responsibility for his role in United's disastrous last season but believes that the new boss Louis van Gaal can lead his beloved club to the title.

Neville confirmed this week that he had turned down the offer to stay on at United under Van Gaal, preferring instead to concentrate fully on his TV work with the BBC, where he will join the Match of the Day team next season, The Mirror reported.

And speaking after he joined the Class of 92 to play in a fundraising event for Salford City, the club he jointly owns with his brother Gary, Ryan Giggs, Paul Scholes and Nicky Butt, the former England defender suggested that he had decided to carry the can for his part in the demise under David Moyes last season.

Neville bluntly admitted that he was involved last year and last year was an absolute disaster. He said that it was an absolute disaster from start to finish and they must all take responsibility, not just Moyes. He added that he takes responsibility and so does everyone involved.

Neville took to Twitter this week to confirm that he had left his role as a coach at United, and the club later confirmed the fact, even though an Old Trafford spokesman explained that Van Gaal had wanted to retain Neville in some capacity, but the former player himself made the decision to walk away.

Neville said that he feels that United is going to win the league, adding that he is sure that is what Van Gaal would be saying to the players because second isn't any good at the club.

Neville said that for United, it's finishing top, as Premier League champions.
