ADT returns to Malaysia for Terengganu golf championship
Asian Development Tour (ADT) hopefuls will resume their title chase at the PGM Terengganu Championship in Malaysia next week with the aim of tightening their grip on an Asian Tour golf card for 2015.
An international cast of talent from over 16 countries will light up the approximately $60,000 ADT event when it makes a return to the Resorts World Kijal from Aug 14 to 17.
American Brett Munson, currently second on the merit rankings, England's Grant Jackson and Pavit Tangkamolprasert of Thailand will be part of the talented international field challenging for top honours against reigning Order of Merit champion Nicholas Fung who will be heading the home charge.
Pavit, who claimed his breakthrough victory at the 2013 ADT season-ending Linc Group Jakarta Invitational, will continue his hunt for a second ADT title at the PGM Terengganu Championship.
"My main priority for this year is to play well on the ADT and get my Asian Tour card for next year. My first ADT title earlier this year has given me a lot of confidence in my game. I'm going to try my best to maintain in top-five on the rankings till the end of the season," said Pavit.
The talented 25-year-old currently sits in fourth place on the ADT Order of Merit with a season's haul of $19,357 courtesy of four top-five finishes so far this season.
Working in close partnership with the Professional Golf of Malaysia (PGM) Tour, a total of 12 PGM events will feature on this season's ADT Schedule, giving Malaysian players a big incentive in chasing for a place on the region's main Tour.
The winner of the Terengganu Championship will take home a prize purse of $10,500 and receive six Official World Golf Ranking points. The top six players and ties will also earn points based on a sliding scale.
Since the last PGM event on the ADT two months ago, the ADT has travelled to Indonesia and Chinese Taipei before returning to Malaysia for the PGM Terengganu Championship, which is the 12th leg of the 2014 season.
This season, the ADT will reward the top five players on the final Order of Merit with playing rights for the 2015 Asian Tour season and also continue to offer Official World Golf Ranking (OWGR) points.
