Kolkata: Court rejects bail plea of woman tutor tormenting three-and-a-half-year-old, sends her to police custody till July 31
A Kolkata court today rejected the bail application of a woman private tutor, arrested for torturing a three-and-a-half-year-old-boy here in his Lake Town address, and also sent her further into police custody till the end of this month.
Speaking to the media after the court hearing, the lawyer of the teacher,Inderkant Jha, said;" We had moved the bail application, which has been rejected. She will be under police custody till July 31, 2014 for further investigation. Following the investigation the court will give its verdict."
Terming the entire incident as a conspiracy against his client, the lawyer questioned the need of having CCTV that too in a bedroom.
"All I can say is that do you find any CCTV camera in the bedroom, that too during the time of teaching, it was a part of conspiracy to implicate my client in false cases. I haven't seen the footage, once I see it I will be able to tell you," Jha added.
Following a police complaint lodged on Thursday, the alleged teacher was arrested on Friday night reportedly from the southern parts of the city while she was taking shelter in one of her relatives' place.
The incident caught on camera showed the shocking video footage of how a three-and-a -half-year-old boy was mercilessly beaten and kicked by the woman tutor here in the city on Wednesday.
This appalling piece of news comes close on the heels of TV channels had aired on Monday video footage of a school principal brutally caning "indisciplined" visually challenged boys, aged between 9 and 13 years, in Andhra Pradesh's East Godavari district. The police later arrested the principal, who was also visually challenged, and another school official.
