Prime Minister Modi condoles Medak tragedy
Prime Minister Narendra Modi today expressed his deepest condolences to the families of those who lost their lives in the accident when a bus collided against a train in Medak district.
The PMO India account on twitter wrote, "PM expresses his deepest condolences to the families of those who lost their lives in the accident in Medak district. The PM prays for the speedy recovery of those injured in the accident in Medak District."
At least 20 children were feared killed and over a dozen injured in Telangana's Medak district this morning when a school bus collided with the Nanded- Hyderabad Express at an unmanned crossing.
The Additional Director General (ADG) PR, Railways, Anil Saxena, had said that prima facie evidence points the blame at the school bus driver for the collision.
Saxena told ANI, "A school bus without observing mandatory precautions tried to cross the track when the train was on the track. It is an unfortunate, tragic accident. Prima facie it appears that the driver did not take enough precautions on such unmanned crossing. The driver or his attendant should have got down and seen if the track is clear."
K Kavitha of the Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) also told ANI that the state government was doing its best to help the injured.
She said, "The incident is a very sad one. Government is doing everything. The Chief Minister has talked to the Railway General Manager and sent a rescue team also. More details will come out later."
