BJP serves legal notice to Kejriwal for making baseless allegations
BJP today served legal notice to former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal for defaming the party by making false and baseless allegations that the BJP was trying to buy the support of MLAs for Rs 20 crores each to form government in Delhi.
The party has asked Mr Kejriwal to pay Rs 1 crore as damages for 'defamation'.
BJP legislator RP Singh served legal notice to Mr Kejriwal demanding Rs 1 crore as compensation.
Mr Singh has called upon Mr Kejriwal to desist and restrain from making such false and baseless allegation and demanded a sum of Rs 1 crore towards token damages/compensation for mental agony, harassment and defamation.
RP Singh has served legal notice through Ajay Digpaul and Associates to Convener of Aam Aadmi Party Arvind Kejriwal for defaming the BJP and its leaders.
In this notice, it has been said that RP Singh is a reputed leader of BJP and Legislator from Rajender Nagar. If the BJP is defamed on the basis of false allegations then it is also defamation of Mr Singh.
Addressing the mediapersons here today, RP Singh said that yesterday, the Convener of AAP Arvind Kejriwal had alleged that BJP is trying to buy the support of MLAs for Rs 20 crores each to form Government in Delhi and this was sent to the media for broadcasting.
''He has also tweeted that the BJP is trying to buy support of six Congress MLAs. Besides this such allegations are being made through posters and hoardings also,'' Mr Singh said.
In his notice, Mr Singh has said that these allegations are without any basis and foundation and merely figments of imagination aimed at tarnishing the image of BJP.
He also said that AAP had formed Government in Delhi with the support of Congress in December, 2013 but resigned after 49 days in view of Lok Sabha elections.
Now, such allegations are being made again to tarnish the image of BJP because of the belief that there will be Assembly Elections in near future in Delhi, Mr Singh said.
He has claimed that these baseless allegations are not only defamation of the party but also corrupt practice under Representation of People Act for which the registration of the party may be cancelled.
