Elephant kills woman in Bengal forest

Kolkata, July 15 : The body of a tribal woman, trampled to death by an elephant was found Tuesday in Maraghat range of Jalpaiguri forest division in West Bengal, a forest official said.

"Four women had gone inside the forest to collect firewood when they came face to face with an elephant. While three of them managed to flee, we found the body of the fourth woman today (Tuesday) morning," Divisional Forest Officer Bidyut Sarkar said.

Earlier Friday, a minor was crushed to death in Alipurduar district after an elephant attacked her house.
