Bollywood young generation stars Sidharth Malhotra and Parineeti Chopra, who paired up to play a twosome in the film Hasee Toh Phasee, feel they coped easily on the sets during the romcom's making owing to their no-Mumbai origin and Punjabi cultural match.

In the film, Sidharth Malhotra's plays the mischievous Nikhil Bharadwaj while Parineeti plays a rebellious Meeta. This film is a mixture of romance and comedy.

Commenting on the chemistry of both, Sidharth while promoting the film in Kolkata said: "As we both are not from Mumbai, do not have a filmy background, we both are foodie and we both are Punjabis, so we get along really well. Our cultures do match. So it became easier for us to cope up on the sets."

Speaking on the character she played, Parineeti said, "We are portraying two main looks, one is the past and the other is the present. In the present my hair is much messier as I am playing a scientist. So I can't have a beautiful hair and makeup. I play a quirky person and we wanted that kind of look."

"If some day Sidharth and I looked nice, then Vinel sir used to change our look and make them a messy one" she added.

"The younger portion of the film, we are inspired by Harry Potter," said Sidharth.

The 'Senti' Sidharth and 'Mental' Parineeti , as they are promoted ahead of the film, justified the title of the film by mentioning saying it is basically a north Indian title.

This tag can connect more to the characters in the film and that is the reason Sidharth is given the name 'Senti Sidharth' and Parineeti the mental one.

"The boy has to do much more to make the girl laugh" said Sidharth.

But Parineeti was more flattering of Sidharth when she said: "When Sidharth smiled, all the girls went mad for him on the sets."

Sidharth said in real life he is "very sentimental and emotional."

"I could very well connect to the character I am playing. Nikhil, my character's name, runs an unsuccessful event management company. He is pressurized by his family and friends to be focussed in life. He tries to be very practical but at the same time he is very emotional too," said Sidharth.

Parineeti spilled a few beans too on the making of the film. She said Sidharth had actually dropped her during the shooting of the song "Drama Queen".

The film, set for Feb 7 release, is produced by Karan Johar, Vikas Bahl, Vikramaditya Motwani and Anurag Kashyap.
