Sick Lankan prisoner hospitalised in Tanjore
A 49-year-old Sri Lankan prisoner, undergoing treatment after vomiting blood at the Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Government Hospital (MGMGH), here was shifted to Government Medical College Hospital at Thanjavur.
Notably Ms Nandhini, wife of the Sri Lankan J Pattu Gunaraja of Jaffna in Sri Lanka has appealed to the Tamil Nadu Government through Tiruchirapalli District administration to save the life of her 49-year-old husband.
According to Nandini, her husband was under treatment at MGMGH for the last one month. He was shifted from the central prison here after he fell sick.
Gunaraja was arrested by the police on September 17, 2012 on the charge of selling stolen jewels. Claiming to be a textiles businessman, he had come to Chennai where he landed in trouble. Since then, he has been undergoing imprisonment in prisons in Chennai, Chengalpattu and here.
She said she was also a Sri Lankan national and that her husband was fighting for life vomiting blood for the past few days. The doctors here advised that he be shifted to a bigger hospital in Chennai or Madurai for further treatment so that he could be saved.
On her plea, Pattu Gunaraja was shifted to Government Medical college hospital Thanjavur, yesterday. Official sources said here today.
