Unseasonal heat wave sweeping across coastal Andhra Pradesh and parts of Telangana has forced administration of five districts to either close down the schools or to put them on half day working mode, to save the school going children from sunstroke.

Severe weather conditions are prevailing in Krishna, Guntur, East and West Godavari, Visakhapatnam and Vizianagaram districts of Andhra Pradesh and Khammam, Medak and Nalgonda districts of Telangana.

Rentachintala and Bapatla of Guntur district had registered highest temperature 42-44 degree C yesterday.

'Looking at the unprecedented heat we might have to close down the schools till the end of the month,' Guntur collector Vinod Kumar said.
