Asking BJP members to impress the NDA Government to ban export of meat, Uttar Pradesh Parlaimentary Affairs Minister Mohammad Azam Khan today said in the state assembly that this decision could save the animals from going to gallows.

"The NDA should ban export of meat. The BJP members in the House should impress the Prime Minister Narendra Modi to ban export as he had advocated Pink revolution during election campaign. If NDA Government does that the UP Assembly would pass a resolution in favour of this," he said while replying to an adjournment notice moved by Laxmikant Bajpai and Radha Mohan Das both BJP in the state Assembly today.

The members have demanded ban on slaughtering of lactating animals for meat export so that shortage of milk could be solved.

"The slaughter houses were using lactating animals for the purpose due to which there was a shortage in milk and synthetic milk was being sold in the markets," Mr Bajpai said.

Lokendra Singh of BJP said the matter was also associated with law and order while BJP leader Satish Mahana stressed that UP pollution control board has checked some slaughtering units and called for taking strong action against them.

The minister in his reply said this issue should not be viewed from political or religious point of view and only those animals meant for the purpose should be slaughtered.

Saying that the excise duty earned from the export of meat goes to Centre, he said the UP BJP can make a big contribution in getting the Centre to impose a ban on meat export.

The Speaker however rejected the notice.
