A check dam would be constructed at Pedapulipaka Village, about 15 km downstream Prakasham Barrage, to impound water on an extent of 10 km, which would serve dual purpose of tourism development and provide drinking water to the city.


The VGTMUDA officials informed the proposal to the Vijayawada MP Kesineni Srinivas, when he met them in UDA office today. The officials explained to the MP that a plan is being evoked to construct a check dam, downstream Prakasham Barrage, to impound water on an extent of 10 kms.

A boat riding point and other entertainment points would be established at the check dam in order make it as a tourism spot. At the same time, drinking water could be supplied to the city from the check dam.

The officials would meet Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu with their proposals to get approval for the check dam, officials told the MP.

The officials informed the MP about the proposal to construct Vijayasiri, a tourism project, at Bhavanipuram under Public Private Participation.

The MP asked the UDA officials about the fly over across the Chennai-Howrah Railway track.

The fly over collapsed few months ago while being constructed. He directed officials to ensure that the construction of the bridge is completed at the earliest.

Mr Srinivas asked UDA officials to reconstruct the 6 lane road, in Auto Nager on war footing as the road got damaged badly. The MP observed the outer ring road map and made some suggestions to the officials.
