Aamir meets PM, discusses issues raised in TV show Satyamev Jayate
Bollywood star Aamir Khan called on Prime Minister Narendra Modi here today and discussed with him, the social issues that he has been espousing in his TV programme 'Satyamev Jayate.'
The Prime Minister's Office (PMO) described it as a "courtesy call."
The actor later said he had discussed with the Prime Minister, the issues which he raised in his TV campaign.
He said he had apprised Mr Modi of the immense support he had received from people on the issue he had raised in the programmes.
The Prime Minister had assured him he would look into all these issues, the actor said.
"...I have shared with him the overwhelming support that we got from people across the country through Vote for Change Campaign on SMJ on the various issues that we tackled in our show.
"He has assured me that he will look into all the matters," Aamir later said on Twitter.
Ironically, Aamir had in 2006 in an interview slammed Mr Modi, who was then Gujarat Chief Minister, on the Gujarat riots issue.
Today after the meeting, Aamir said Mr Modi had talked of benefiting people, especially poor and bringing happiness to their lives.
"We should be cooperative with him so that he achieves his goal. People and I have great expectation from Modi Saheb," Aamir said after his meeting with the Prime Minister.
"It doesn't matter which religion these victims belong to. The bottom line is they are all human beings.
"It seems to me that the law and order machinery or the administration is simply not capable of controlling the situation," he had said in one of his interviews with the BBC while slamming Mr Modi.
