The second part of the book of a tribal painter Madhukar Vade from Palghar, written in German language, is generating a huge demand in Europe.

The book, "Under The Rainbows", through Warli paintings by Vadu, represents the stories and pictures related to birth of earth, deluge, rebirth and culture, tradition and living style or civilisation of the Adivasi community.

Madhukar Vadu, who belongs to Kondhan Bukle Pada which lies three kms away from Manor, after failing in class 10 went to Nashik in 1989 where he bought the German book of English version to learn the German language and got involved into the language through the exhibitions of Warli paintings in Talasari, where German tourists used to visit.

In 1997, Vadu met Signe Ratagiyar, a German researcher, at one such exhibition who promised him the support.

Ms Ratagiyar went to Germany with some paintings by Vadu, based on the same one book published in 2003, which helped him to earn Rs 1 lakh.

After this Vadu kept his journey on by having conversations with the elders in his area and prepared stories supported by paintings.

Ms Ratagiyar revisited India in 2002 and again met Vadu, and took 24 stories with herself, while there was a language barrier so she had them translated to English in 2006.

Recently, Vadu got to know that the second part of the same book has been published by the Ratagiyar in Germany which has gained five-star ratings. On each book, which consists of 82 pages, Mr Vadu will get 15 per cent of honorarium from the publisher.
