UP Assembly budget session to be stormy from tomorrow
The budget session of the Uttar Pradesh State legislature which starts from tomorrow would be a stormy one, with Opposition taking head-on with the Akhilesh Yadav government over the deteriorating law and order situation, power crisis and other failures of the Samajwadi Party government.
Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav, who is also the state Finance Minister will present the UP's budget for 2014-15 on June 20 in the State Assembly.
This will be the first time after the Lok Sabha election in which all the political parties got a drubbing from the BJP in the state will sit in the Assembly to discuss the issues related to the people.
UP government had passed a vote-on-account for four months in February last for the current fiscal.
Assembly officials here today said that the budget session of the State Assembly would continue till July 20.
BJP in an upbeat mood after winning 73 out of the total 80 Lok Sabha seats in the recently held elections will certainly give a hard time to the government over spurt of rape incidents in the state.
However, BJP will feel the absence of its leader of the house as the present leader Hukum Singh has been elected to the Lok Sabha and the deputy leader Satish Mahana would be the acting leader till the new one is elected.
Similarly, in the Legislative Council too BJP's leader Nepal Singh has been elected to the Lok Sabha and now its deputy leader Om Prakash Singh will be the acting leader.
BJP state spokesperson Vijay Bahadur Pathak said that party legislators would raise the law and order issue prominently in both the houses of the legislatures along with other issues like power crisis, cane dues, besides deteriorating law and order situation in the state.
