To provide instant help in case of any emergency on Srinagar-Jammu national highway, the traffic police has installed a toll free number.


Anybody, including general public, drivers and other road users can contact the toll free number 18001807043 for any assistance, an official spokesman said here.

He said besides this, the traffic department has identified 65 cell phone numbers which could be contacted anytime in case of any emergency.

As per a communication of the traffic police National Highways, Headquarter Ramban, which looks after the traffic management in districts of Ramban, Doda, Kishtwar, Udhampur and Reasi besides a large network of hilly rural roads in a vast accident prone areas, it has established a network to man these roads efficiently where under a permanent mechanism of having identifying Cell Numbers for every post have been established.

The communique said the traffic flow on Jammu-Ramban- Srinagar and Jammu-Doda-Kishtwar National Highways is increasing day by day which is posing challenge to Traffic Police deployed for duties on these Highways.

The system put in place will help the public in large and will act as a strong feedback mechanism for the Traffic Police.

Accordingly the traffic police Ramban has advised the road users including drivers, passengers and transporters to note the 65 identified Cell numbers of the officers deployed along National Highway and call the nearest officer for any sort of traffic assistance, complaints and other grievances.

As per the communiqué the intention of introducing this is mainly to reduce the inconvenience to the general public, road users.

Practical and timely suggestions through this network will help the traffic police to make the system effective and accountable, the communication said.

The traffic police has sought full cooperation from the general public which help them to take measures for making the safe journey on these National Highways.
