BJP national vice-president and Secunderabad MP Bandaru Dattatreya today requested Union Minister Home Rajnath Singh to initiate on a war-footing steps to deploy additional forces to recover the missing students' bodies.

"Though it is sixth day after the tragedy, till date only seven bodies have been recovered and handed over to the parents. Still 17 bodies are to be recovered," he said in a release here.

Mr Dattatreya today visited the residence of master Ritvik, student of VNR Vignan Jyothi Engineering College who had drowned in the Beas river tragedy in Himachal Pradesh at Vidhyanagar in the city.

Both the parents of Master Ritvik, the mother Ms Shailaja and the father Rammohan Rao, were in deep mental agony, he said.

He met Rajnath Singh in New Delhi recently and was assured all the help by the Centre.

He appealed to the governments of Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh and Union Government to pay an exgratia on Rs 25 lakh collectively to each family.

Mr Dattatreya said he would once again speak to Union Home Minister and also Prime Minister Narendra Modi to initiate necessary help to recover the bodies from the River and to send them to the parents at the earliest.
