External Affairs Ministry official visits Nagaland
The Joint Secretary of the Border Connectivity in the Union Ministry of External Affairs Dr A M Gondane, who is on a three-day visit to Nagaland has a meeting with the senior officers of the state in the Chief Secretary's conference hall today.
According to official reports, the meeting deliberated on the Indo-Myanmar Border connectivity issues and a general observation on the look east policy. Sharing his experience as a Director of SAARC Division and also his vast experience on the External Affairs Ministry, Dr Gondane suggested the senior officers to have the right perspective on the issues discussed.
He said the external ministry is looking at development connectivity infrastructure etc. and further said transport connectivity is needed for development connectivity and is the lifeline of every positive development. He viewed that the pros and cons and the consequences are also to be taken into consideration.
Meanwhile, the state senior officers apprised the visiting officer on the conditions and issues about the Indo- Myanmar connectivity in which the physical infrastructure is needed.
The meeting focused on aspects and scope in tourism and agriculture through to border connectivity. The border connectivity shall benefit beyond the North eastern states as discussed. This international border connection is anticipated to be completed by November next, the report said.
