MLA attack case: 2 surrender before court
Two people, including the prime accused in the murderous attack on ruling AIADMK MLA, surrendered before a lower court, here today.
The AIADMK MLA M Gunasekharan, representing Manamadurai (Reserved) Assembly Constituency in neighbouring Sivaganga district was brutally attacked by a gang, led by D Logesh (22) son of a former functionary of the party on Friday night, last.
The removal of Logesh's house in a drive against encroachments was the motive behind the murder. Gunasekaran, who suffered multiple cut injuries, was recuperating in a private hospital, here. Police have already arrested four associates of Logeshwaran, while he and his brother D.Sabari evaded police arrest.
After the police initiated an intense search, Logesh and his another associate Balamurugan (23) surrendered before the Judicial Magistrate 1, Madurai D Thriveni, who remanded them to judicial custody till June 16. Later, the duo was lodged in Madurai Central Prison.
