Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao left here this evening for Delhi.

During his first visit to the capital after becoming the Chief Minister, he will meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other Union Ministers tomorrow and impress upon them to accord special category status for Telangana.

The AP Reorganisation Act has accorded special category status to Andhra Pradesh for five years which entails tax incentives and 90 per cent grant from the Centre to spur industrialisation.

Mr Rao is also expected to demand withdrawal of the ordinance transferring more than 200 villages in Khammam district of Telangana to Andhra Pradesh as part of the construction of Polvaram Project.

According to TRS sources, Mr Rao will meet President Pranab Mukherjee to invite the President to attend the state formation day celebrations.

Mr Rao will return to the city on Sunday morning to be available for the first session of the Telangana Assembly beginning from Monday (June 9).
