Lucknow, June 6 : Under pressure over growing rape cases in Uttar Pradesh, Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav has transferred as many as 10 Indian Police Service (IPS) officers, said reports on Friday.
The IPS officers who were transferred include Moradabad Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Bijnore Superintendent of Police (SP), Hapur SP, Saharanpur SSP and Auraiya SP.
Earlier this week, the Samajwadi Party (SP) government in Uttar Pradesh decided to act tough on the bureaucrats in connection with the Badaun gangrape and murder case, which has attracted the attention of national political leaders, as many of them visited the victims' family members.
The Akhilesh Yadav government on Monday removed Principal Secretary for Home Anil Gupta, media reports said.
This came a day after, the UP government sacked state Chief Secretary Javed Usmani.
