National carrier Air India's passenger revenue per day has increased by 20 per cent in May 2014 by earning Rs 44 Crores as against Rs 38 Crores last year.


The average number of passengers carried on Network was 47700 vis-a-vis 45230 in the corresponding period last year, reflecting an increase of 5 per cent.

Air India, in terms of On Time Performance (OTP) has achieved a network OTP of 81 per cent. In terms of aircraft utilisation, the carrier was able to achieve an utilisation of nearly 14 hours on its newly acquired B787 aircraft, according to a release here today.

The passenger load factor on the domestic network was 80 per cent in the month of May and International was 73 per cent giving a system wise load of 75 per cent.

The yield on the domestic sector stood at Rs 7.41 per PKM and on the Network Rs 4.47, reflecting a 10 per cent increase vis-a-vis last year.

Air India Express also recorded good performance during the month of May, 2014. Its average revenue per day was Rs 8.13 Crores and Passengers uplifted 8500.

The passenger load factor of Air India Express touched an all time high of 90 per cent on International during May, 2014. Similarly the yields of the low cost carriers also reached to Rs 4.08 per PKM.

Air India has operated, on an average, 416 flight per day and Air India Express 54, making a total of 470 flights carrying a total of 56129 passengers per day.

The performance achieved by Air India exceeded a TAP under each and every parameter.
