Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav today conducted a surprise inspection of a Lohia village Bharthapur in Sharwasti district.

Finding the law and order unsatisfactory, the Chief Minister instructed issuing of a stern warning to the district police chief Salikram Verma and ordered transfer of District Magistrate Bhanu Chandra Goswami for lax administration.

For not discharging their duties in a proper manner, Chief Medical Officer Dr R P Gupta, Executive Engineer (Power) Vinay Kumar, District Supply Officer Sanjeev Kumar, Deputy Agriculture Director Shivdutt Tiwari, the then Executive Engineer (RES) Vijay Kumar Dubey and District Mining Officer Ram Kumar Tantua, were also suspended with immediate effect.

The Chief Minister, as per scheduled programme, had to go to Hamirpur but instead reached Shravasti district.

He reviewed the developmental works on ground and held a 'chaupal' in the village and interacted directly with the people and sought their views on the progress of various works.

Villagers apprised Mr Yadav of the poor power supply and informed that the village got only one hour power supply every day.

Present on the occasion, the executive engineer (power) told the Chief Minister that as per roaster the village is to get power between 1145 hrs to 1845 hrs. But till 1155 hrs power had not been restored.

The Chief Minister immediately pointed out that the state government had fixed 12 hours power supply for villages.

Finding that power was cut was beyond the roastering schedule, the Chief Minister ordered immediate suspension of the executive engineer.
