The newly-appointed Uttar Pradesh Principal Secretary (Home), Deepak Singhal, today gave a clear message perform or perish to the state police officers.

"The officers and cops must develop a dialogue with the public and they should reach to all sensational crime spot to initiate immediate necessary action against the culprits", called on Deepak Singhal, while issuing warning that those who would not take heinous crimes seriously, would be held responsible and punished.

Singhal, who assumed the charge of PS (Home) was talking to media persons here.

Mr Singhal said the officers should not sit in their offices just but must also felt their presence in the field as it would sent a strong message of their alertness and help keeping crimes under check.

He stressed an urgent need of strengthening the intelligence network in the state, and claimed that many incidents could be averted if time actionable inputs would be shared between the officers.

He called the policemen to be sensitive towards the public and must listen to each and every problems and tried their best to give immediate relief to the victims.

Mr Singhal also directed to attend the problems of members of fairer sex as well as old persons on priority basis.

He also informed the mediapersons that he along with Director General of Police, A L Banerjee, would visit Meerut and Moradabad to take first hand account of ground realities in the two communally sensitive districts of Western UP, tomorrow.

The state government posted Deepak Singhal as PS (Home), after removing A K Gupta. Mr Gupta was reportedly shunted out as he failed to put a check on deteriorating law and order situation.

Mr Gupta was still awaiting for his new posting.
