Punjab BJP core committee rejects resignation of Anil Joshi
The core committee of Punjab BJP today rejected the resignation of Local Bodies Minister Anil Joshi and also set up a seven-member committee to prepare a report on the issues concerning the people of the state.
Mr Joshi had tendered his resignation on moral grounds following the defeat of senior BJP leader Arun Jaitley from Amritsar Lok Sabha seat to Punjab BJP chief Kamal Sharma.
The meeting was held under the presidentship of Mr Kamal Sharma at Punjab Bhawan in New Delhi today. Veteran BJP leader Shanta Kumar and Mr Shyam Jaju, incharge and co-incharge of Punjab BJP affairs were also present in the meeting.
The core committee adopted an unanimous resolution, expressing thanks and gratitude to the people of India for giving a massive mandate in favour of BJP and NDA under the stewardship of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the recently held Lok Sabha elections. It also deliberated at length on the verdict of Lok Sabha elections in Punjab.
Mr Sharma constituted a seven-member committee, comprising veteran party leader Balramji Dass Tandon (chairman), Ms Laxmi Kanta Chawla, Mr Tikshan Sood, Mr Narotam Dev Ratti, Mr Rajinder Bhandari, Mr Manoranjan Kalia and Mr Ashwani Sharma to evaluate the performance of the party in the recent concluded Lok Sabha elections, issues concerning the people of Punjab and make recommendations for corrective measures there of.
Mr Bhagat Chunni Lal, Mr Madan Mohan Mittal, Mr Anil Joshi, Mr Avinash Rai Khanna, Prof Bril Lal Rinwa, Bibi Gurcharan Kaur, Mr Ajay Jamwal, Mr Tarun Chugh, Mr Rakesh Rathore and Mr Jagtar Singh Saini were also present in the meeting.
