Punjab Education Minister Sikander Singh Maluka today strongly denied the contention of former Health Minister Lakshmi Kanta Chawala regarding bad quality of mid day meal served to the students and said the state Government was taking all steps to maintain quality and nutrition of mid day meal.


In a statement here today, Mr Maluka said quality of mid-day-meal has been recognised by Union government and Punjab has bagged 2nd position in the quality of mid day meal across the country after Tamil Nadu.

Seeking the co-operation of general public, the Minister said every citizen has a right to bring shortcomings, if any, to the notice of concerned officers or health officials and even ask them to take samples of mid day meal.

He had been regularly visiting schools in the remote rural areas and enjoying mid day meal sitting with the students with the singular purpose of checking its quality.

The state government was fully vigilant to its duty to provide nutritious and hygienic mid-day-meal to all students and would continue to endeavor for it.
