Sunrises Hyderabad set 161 target for KKR
Sunrisers Hyderabad scored 160 for loss of 7 wickets against Kolkata Knight Riders at the concluding league match of the IPL7 at Eden Gardens here tonight.
Poor running between the wickets, glimpses of excellent fielding and missed catches ( three ) were the summary of the first 20 overs.
Opener Shikar Dawan and captain Darren Sammy scored 29 each, Venugopal Rao and Naman Ojha contributed 27 and 26 runs respectively as poor running between wickets cost three of them run out.
Sent to bat first Sunrisers Hyderabad's opener David Warner began well with a boundary of Morne Morkel's first delivery on leg-side but was knocked out on 3rd ball when his off stump was uprooted by a swinger on 4 and total score at 5. Extra run came from a wide ball.
The early wicket of dangerous batsman Warner could not help much the host for the second victim as partnership between Shikar Dhawan and Naman Ojha fetched 64 runs in the second wicket. The duo after withstanding initial threats from Morne Morkel began picking up runs as they really punished the two other pacers Vinay Kumar and Umesh Yadav for their short balls.
Seeing the partnership going great KKR captain Gautam Gambhir brought part time bowler R ten Doeschate, who successfully broke the duo when Ojha in bid to hit rocketed ball to Doeschate, who had kept his eyes and grabbed.
Missing his partner Shikhar Dawan in a hurry to pick up quick on board failed to reach his own end by an outstanding fielding from Manish Pandey when southpaw wan on 29.
Then turns came for Venugopal Rao to be run out as he ran for the second when Vinay Kumar stopped a boundary going ball Manish Pandey did the rest throwing directly to wicket-keeper Robin Uthappa before Rao could make it.
Then Jason Holders also ran out at 16 by joint effort of Uthappa and Vinay Kumar before Darren Sammy was caught by Vinay Kumar of Shakib Al Hasan on 29.
Though there were some glimpses of superb fielding, lapses were also equally witnessed as Sunil Narine, Yusuf Pathan and Uthappa missed a catch each.
