The Biju Janata Dal Parliamentary party today elected Mr.Bhartruhari Mahatab as party leader in Lok Sabha and Mr Kalpataru Das as party leader in the Rajya Sabha.

Both Mr Mahatab and Mr Das were elected in the BJD parliamentary party meeting here presided over by BJD supremo and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.

Dhenkanal MP and Editor of language daily Dharitri and Orissa Post Tathagat Satpathy was elected as the party chief whip in the Lok Sabha while Mr.Ram Chandra Hansadh who was elected from Mayurbhanj Lok Sabha seat was appointed as BJD Parliamentary Party Secretary in the Lok Sabha.

BJD Rajya Sabha member Dillip Tirkey was nominated as party chiefwhip in Rajya Sabha.

Puri Lok Sabha member Pinaki Mishra was appointed as coordinator for the BJD both in Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha.The BJD which won,20 of the 21 Lok Sabah seats this time, appointed BJD MP in Lok Sabha Baijant Panda and Kalikesh Singdeo as party's spokesman in the Parliament as well as in Delhi.

The ruling BJD which won 117 of the 147 Assembly seat in the just concluded Asembly elections in the state,has 20 members in Lok Sabha and six members in Rajya Sabha.
