West Bengal Governor M K Narayanan today telephoned mother of mountaineer Chanda Gayen, who, remained missing since May 20 while trying to climb West Ridge of Kanchenjunga peak.

According to official sources, the Governor called up the climber's mother and assured her that search and rescue operations for Chanda and two sherpas would continue.

Inclement weather hampered the search operation for Chanda and her two associates during the day which will resume tomorrow.

Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had visited the climber's house at Dasnagar in Howrah last evening.
