After a prolonged spell of heatwave, the metropolis and its suburbs are likely to experience a welcome shower in the next two days.


The weather office said with the entry of south-easterly winds caused by the formation of a depression over the central Bay of Bengal moving toward the Odisha coast, rains would take place in parts of south Bengal tomorrow and the day after.

The rains might be preceded by thunderstorm, the MET office said.

The maximum temperature recorded in the metropolis during the day was 38.1 degrees Celsius, two degrees above normal.
