A tiger was located today in the house of a residential locality in Walipada of the Wagle Estate in Srinagar.


The Srinagar police told UNI that, when the large cat entered the house, situated on a hillock near the Ayappa Temple at about 2210 hours, the residents immediately rushed out, locking the tiger inside.

Santosh Kadam, from the Regional Disaster Management Cell, told UNI that the Fire Brigade and the Forest Officials were summoned to the location, where the locals thronged outside, to have a look at the animal.

The police and firemen cordoned off the house and the forest officials were attempting to rescue the tiger, the police said.

The presence of the animal in the locality, has created great fear in the minds of the people, the locals agreed.
