Karnataka Minister for Sports and Youth Services K Abhayachandra today said that the remuneration paid to coaches has been increased by 20 per cent.

"The State government has decided to increase the salary of Coaches appointed on Contract basis from the present minimum of Rs 12,000 and maximum of Rs 28,000 per month," he added.

Talking to newsmen here, the Minister said it had been decided to recruit 70 coaches and proposal for approval in this regard was sent to Finance Department.

Replying to a question, he said coaches with BPed and MPed qualification would be given preference while recruiting.

He said it was also proposed to provide financial assistance to athletes to get training abroad.
