At least seven people were killed as the bus in which they were travelling caught fire after colliding with a diesel tanker on the Mumbai-Ahmedabad highway close to Maharashtra's Manor town on Wednesday, reports said.

At least 14 others were injured in the mishap.

The bus was going from Maharashtra's Pune city to Ahmedabad city in Gujarat.

Officials have reached the spot.

"We had to be very careful in our operations as there was a diesel tanker and a risk of explosion," a senior police officer told NDTV.

The traffic was stopped on the highway following the mishap which occurred at around 1 am.
