Thane Guardian Minister Ganesh Naik's flagship programme, the weekly Janata Durbar (Public Audience) for the future months has been cancelled, his office announced here today.

After a break during the recent elections, the Janata Durbar was restarted and his office announced that one such Durbar would be held in Navi Mumbai yesterday followed by another one in Thane today.

However, yesterday darbal was cancelled due to some unavoidable circumstances and later during the day a communication was received that all the Janata Durbars for the months from May to August stand cancelled.

Thus the next Janata Durbar is in limbo as the Assembly elections for the state is likely to be declared in August and is to be held in October this year.

Naik started his weekly durbar way back in 2004, in Thane city,Navi Mumbai and Mira Bhayander in turns, where he listened to the complaints of the citizens and resolved them at times. It had started becoming popular with the attendance of both government officials and the citizens.

He had also attempted to hold such durbars in the rural parts of the district, it fell flat as the response was not the same.

Despite the enoromous work done by the Congress-NCP as they claim, citizens of Thane district booted them in all the four constituencies by electing the nominees of the Sena-BJP alliance.

Incidentally, Naik's Janta Darbar was not an official programme of the state government.
