A 20-year-old lioness died in Nandankanan zoo in Odisha, an official said Friday, bringing down the total number of lions left in the zoo to five.
"The lioness had been born in this zoo. It died of old age complications Thursday," zoo assistant director Kamal Lochan Purohit told IANS.
Nandankanan zoo, literally meaning 'The Garden of Heaven', is spread over 425 hectares. It has over 1,200 animals and offers a first of its kind white tiger safari.
